Department of Production Management

The Department of Production Management was formed in 2006 as a result of the reorganisation of the then existing Department of Production Engineering; The Department is headed by Prof. Wiesław Urban. The Department is made up of a team of 18 people, including 4 professors, 9 assistant professors, 4 research assistants and 1 administrative worker. They are members of many international and national committees, associations and scientific institutions. The results of their researches are published in international scientific journals and presented during numerous scientific conferences all over the world.

The scientific and research activity of the Department is related to widely understood production management including technical, economic and social aspects.  The didactic activity of the Department is mainly related to the course of Management and Production Engineering and Furniture Engineering. The department staff also teach at other faculties as well as at other departments of the Bialystok University of Technology.

Department employees are managers and implementers of the following projects:

• GoSmart & Excel BSR – Strengthening smart specialisation by fostering transnational cooperation and practical application of novel solutions for regions and SMEs,
• Examination of production systems in the organizational, technological and environmental dimensions in the conditions of Industry 4.0,
• Modeling the energy efficiency of fuel and energy production and distribution systems.

The department has realised the following projects:

• GoSmart BSR, Strengthening smart specialisation by fostering transnational cooperation,
• Model of technology management in a cluster enterprise,
• Technical, economic and environmental aspects of innovation in industry,
• Modeling the impact of the selection of production technology on energy efficiency.

The department’s staff are responsible for organising three postgraduate courses:

• Lean Management,
• Computer Aided Furniture Production,
• Integrated Management Systems for Quality, Environment and Health and Safety.

At the Department there are four students’ scientific circles:

• SSC Organisation and Management “FORMATION”;
• SSC „Young Engineers”,
• SSC Production Management,
• SSC „INDUSTRY 4.0”.
