Management and Quality Sciences at Bialystok University of Technology granted scientific category A

Pursuant to decision no. 546/506/2022 of 26 July 2022, Bialystok University of Technology has been granted scientific category A in the discipline of Management and Quality Sciences. The decision has been made following the evaluation of quality of the scientific activity covering the period 2017-2021. The category – according to current arrangements – is valid for 4 years, i.e. until next evaluation covering the period 2022-2026.

The Council of the Discipline of Management and Quality Sciences thus gained full academic rights. After the decision becomes final, the Council will be allowed to conduct proceedings for the granting of doctoral and postdoctoral degrees. The Minister’s decision will become final after examination of requests for reconsideration of the decision granting scientific categories.

Apart from authorising a university to conduct studies, run doctoral schools and to grant scientific degrees, scientific category also influences the amount of the subsidy granted.

The highest category in the country (A+ category was not granted in the discipline of Management and Quality Sciences) is undoubtedly a success of the academic community of the Faculty of Engineering Management. We would like to congratulate and thank all the staff members who contributed to this achievement for their hard, joint work, their determination and all steps taken in order to achieve this goal.

This success is due to consistent implementation of the long term strategy of scientific development by previous deans of the Faculty: Prof. Joanicjusz Nazarko, DSc, PhD, Eng (current President of the Council of the Discipline of Management and Quality Sciences), Prof. Joanna Ejdys, DSc, PhD, Eng (current head of the International Department of Logistics and Service Engineering), as well as current Dean, Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Halicka, DSc, PhD, Eng and Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Czerewacz-Filipowicz, DSc, PhD, Eng, Director of the Institute of Management and Quality Sciences. We would also like to congratulate the heads of departments, members of the Council of the Discipline of Management and Quality Sciences and the administrative staff crucial during the arduous process of preparation for the evaluation.

Nationwide, the scientific activity in the discipline of Management and Quality Sciences has been evaluated in 55 institutions. 9 institutions (16%) have been granted A category, 33 institutions (60%) have been granted B+ category, 8 institutions (15%) have been granted B category and 5 institutions (9%) have been granted C category. The categories granted across all disciplines are as follows: A+ – 5.68%, A – 28.21%, B+ – 50.83%, B – 12.14%, C – around 3.14%.
