Cooperation with partners from China

Establishing the Institute

The Faculty of Engineering Management at Bialystok University of Technology intensively develops science and didactic cooperation with China. The main Chinese partner of FEM at BUT is Zhejiang University Ningbo lnstitute ot Technology.

 

In 2016 both institutions established a research and teaching center called the International Chinese and Central-Eastern European Institute of Logistics and Service Sciences.

The aims of cooperation with Chinese partners are:
  • educating students, including Polish and Chinese, on the basis of a double diploma agreement;
  • educating students from other countries;
  • organization of summer schools for students and employees of Polish and Chinese universities and other countries;
  • exchange of scientific and teaching staff (visiting professors);
  • exchange of students;
  • joint development of education programs;
  • organization of conferences and scientific seminars;
  • joint application for scientific and didactic grants;
  • undertaking common subjects of scientific works;
  • development and publication of joint scientific and teaching works;
  • undertaking joint activities related to the dissemination of the effects of scientific and teaching activities;
  • other forms of scientific and teaching activity.

Summer school

The Faculty of Engineering Management at Bialystok University of Technology and Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology organize annually Summer Schools of Logistics – for Polish students in China and for Chinese students in Poland. Almost 100 BUT and ZJUNIT students have participated in this form of education so far. Summer schools are not only an opportunity to acquire knowledge provided by high-class specialists, but also a chance to learn about the culture, history and nature of the host country.

 
 
the authorities of the International Chinese and Central-Eastern European Institute of Logistics and Service Sciences visited ChinaOn 21-26 April, 2017, the authorities of the International Chinese and Central-Eastern European Institute of Logistics and Service Sciences visited China. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the first annual “Forum of Central Eastern Europe Logistics Park. The opportunity and prospect of China-Central Eastern Europe trade logistics with ‘one belt one road’ initiative”. The delegates also met with the authorities of the Zhejiang University of Ningbo Institute of Technology and the city of Ningbo to discuss about further development of cooperation.

Students during workshops - second edition of the Polish-Chinese summer school at the Faculty of Engineering Management at the Bialystok University of TechnologyIn July 2016, 14 students and a tutor from the Zhejiang Ningbo Institute of Technology (China) and 5 students from the Poltava National Technical University (Ukraine) participated in the second edition of the Polish-Chinese summer school at the Faculty of Engineering Management at the Bialystok University of Technology. The subject of the second edition of the school was the analysis of the potential of the New Silk Road.


A group of 5 students along with a tutor, dr Ye TingtingIn July 2015, a group of 5 students along with a tutor, dr Ye Tingting, attended a summer school organized at FEM. For three weeks, Chinese students studied issues in the field of logistics, and familiarized themselves with the history and culture of Poland. Study visits at ADAMPOL, KAN and the logistics center PKP Cargo in Małaszewicze brought them closer to issues related to logistics in the European reality.

On July 2, 2015, 30 students of the Faculty of Engineering Management at Bialystok University of Technology went to China for a month and, this way, the Summer Logistics School at the Ningbo Institute of Technology (NIT) began. The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the Ningbo Institute of Technology Chunming Yu and the dean of the NIT School of Management prof. Hao Wang.

Prof. Joanicjusz Nazarko during the Eastern Economic ForumDuring the Eastern Economic Forum, prof. Joanicjusz Nazarko,  principal of the International Chinese and Central-Eastern European Institute of Logistics and Service Sciences, chaired a panel discussion on the New Silk Road. Among the people taking part in the discussion were, inter alia, Hu Zeng – the president of the China-Belarus “Great Stone” industrial park, Ewa Trochimiuk from Adampol and Marek Cieslak from Hatrans Logistic.

Joanicjusz Nazarko took part in the 4th Poland-China Economic Forum (in Warsaw). The day before, the Chinese President Xi Jinping came to Poland with an official visit. The meeting with Chinese partners was also attended by representatives of the Podlasie local government: Jerzy Leszczynski, Marshal of the Podlasie Voivodeship; Bogdan Dyjuk, Board Member of the Podlasie Voivodeship; Bogdan Olszewski, Director of the Cabinet of the Marshal, and Bogdan Rogaski, President of the Barter S.A.


Honorary Professor Nazarko with diplomaOn 9 June, 2015, prof. Joanicjusz Nazarko was granted a prestigious title of Honorary Professor of Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology (ZJUNIT). Zhejiang University (with the main campus located in Hangzhou) is one of the oldest and most prestigious Chinese universities.


Honorary Professor Hao Wang with BTU Rector during ceremonyOn 14 June, 2016, the ceremony of awarding the title of Honorary Professor of the Bialystok University of Technology took place. Hao Wang – Vice-Dean of Management School at Zhejiang University, Ningbo Institute of Technology, is an international authority in the field of logistics engineering, co-founder, on the Chinese side, of International Chinese and Central-East European Institute of Logistics and Service Sciences.

Joanicjusz Nazarko, on behalf of the Rector of the Bialystok University of Technology and prof. Wei-Liang Jin – the President of Zhejiang University Ningbo Institute of Technology (ZJUNIT), signed an agreement on the establishing of a joint venture called International China and Central-Eastern Europe Institute of Logistics and Service Science.
